As Handbollskanalen has recently revealed, match-fixing is taking place in handball’s biggest tournaments. The threats come from all sides and now Handbollskanalen can tell that the European Handball Federation (EHF) has decided to start a match-fixing education for all referees.

Match-fixing is a big problem in handball and Handbollskanalen showed a glimpse of that last week with details of matches being affected by it in the Champions League and European League. The EHF has responded with match-fixing training for all referees in their competitions.

An email that Handbollskanalen received, which has been sent out to EHF referees, states, among other things:

”New adventures are around the corner and one of them is the education program on match integrity and anti-competition manipulation, that we are launching in cooperation with Sportradar, our match integrity control services partner.”

Furthermore, they write that the ”EHF and Sportradar have prepared a tailored integrity digital education program to deliver integrity education to its referees with maximum flexibility and reach.”

And finally:

”The 2-year rolling program, commencing in February 2022, with a comprehensive blended education learning program containing live webinars, eLearning, and workshops covering the crucial topics of anti-match fixing, anti-competition manipulation, and social media integrity. All EHF referees (indoor and beach) will be requested to attend and successfully complete the program.”
