Cameron Homes har gått in med £45 000 till handbollen, det största icke-statliga stödet till handboll genom tiderna i England.
Det är Burton Mail som rapporterar hur sponsoravtal gör det möjligt för skolor i West Midlands att bedriva handboll både på och utanför skoltid. Hayley Waddel är gymnastiklärare på The Pingle School och säger:
– 140 female pupils receive coaching and our after-school club has 16 regular performers. Our students thoroughly enjoy the new experience – it is fun, competitive and the regular club participation shows how the girls have embraced it. Some of the club students did not attend any other sports clubs and therefore it had a positive impact on increasing pupils’ participation.
– Without the Cameron initiative they would never have picked up a handball and we are grateful to them for this opportunity. We are now putting a handball element into a sports day this year. Hopefully we may have found some future elite performers.
