FCT Handball Association vill få handbollen att växa och satsar nu på skolhandboll.
Det är Daily Trust som rapporterar om hur FCT Handball Association, Federal Capital Territory Handball Association, i Nigeria gör en start på ett nytt program. Iyiola Ogundele är förbundssekreterare och säger:
– We are going to the schools. As part of our grassroots development programme, we are taking handball back to the schools.
We want to popularise the game in schools with the view to discover some hidden talents.
– Every sport has the potential to bring this country glory and a very good image. We shouldn’t wait until football has a problem before we develop other sports, like handball.
– If 10 per cent of what is given to football is given to all other sports, sports will no longer be the same in the country.
– We have abundant talents in this country, but if the other sports are not developed the talented ones will not have avenues to express themselves.
– Therefore, government should support sports federations. That is the way forward.
