Det Internationella Handbollsförbundet (IHF) meddelar att de ska låta dopingtesta det ryska damlandslaget i handboll.
I söndags beslutade IOK att Ryssland får delta i OS 2016 i Rio de Janeiro, men att det är upp till varje respektive gren att avgöra det slutgiltiga. Olika idrotter agerar nu olika och nu har IHF meddelat vad som händer inom handbollen:
”After the decision of the IOC on 24 July concerning the Russian athletes who will take part in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and due to the short time, the IHF reacted immediately by sending a letter to the Russian Handball Federation to collect whereabouts information in order to conduct out-of-competition tests of the Russian women’s team participating in the 2016 Olympic Games.
The samples will be analysed by one of the WADA accredited laboratories which will integrate the results directly in the ADAMS.
The International Handball Federation would like to highlight the full cooperation with the IOC and WADA and that we will do our utmost efforts to provide full transparency and to keep handball clean.”
Handbollen påverkas genom att Ryssland representeras i damturneringen. Nu ska alltså IHF se till att genomföra dopingtester på de ryska landslagsspelarna för att säkerställa att ingen dopad lirare är med i OS. Sedan tidigare har det tillkännagjorts av WADA att sju ryska handbollsspelare, män eller kvinnor, varit dopade de senaste åren.
